A celebration in illumination (and my first blog)
December 21st is the Winter Solstice, which is the shortest day of the year. Wait… no that’s not right…the day is just as long as any other, there are still 24 hours in a day today, but it’s the shortest amount of daylight. Why do we care? Because today is also one of the most underrated holidays in December.
No, I’m not talking about Kwanzaa, but National Flashlight Day! The shortest amount of daylight of the year is Mother Nature’s way of telling us to remember our handy dandy friend the flashlight. It’s also a great opportunity to remember to check the batteries in your flashlight so that in case of an emergency, it’s ready to go, and while you’re at it, remember to check the battery in your smoke detectors as well. But BEFORE changing batteries, here are some activities you could do with your flashlight.
